Job description

Position Overview

In the role of Client Director at Capgemini, you will spearhead efforts to secure large-scale public sector transformation projects in New Zealand, with an immediate emphasis on strategically important national programs including major ERP, digital, data, and business transformation initiatives. This is a senior role focusing on growth that demands a proven track record in developing trusted CxO-level relationships, influencing complex client purchasing agendas, and managing extended multi-year sales campaigns that position Capgemini as a long-term strategic transformation partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic growth initiatives across significant New Zealand public sector accounts, managing sales campaigns that encompass ERP, digital, data, cloud, cyber security, applications, business transformation, and managed services.
  • Build and sustain trusted relationships with senior executives such as CEOs, CIOs, CFOs, and program directors to understand priorities, guide demand, and ethically influence procurement decisions.
  • Steer early positioning and capture activities including strategy development, stakeholder mapping, competitive analysis, implement partner and commercial approaches, and coordinate bid efforts for complex large-scale programmes.
  • Navigate both formal and informal decision-making networks to build consensus, translating insights into transformative proposals centered on public value, operational resilience, and measurable results.
  • Mobilize cross-functional teams locally and globally, including leadership, experts, architects, delivery executives, alliances, and sponsors to focus on priority pursuits with appropriate investment and executive involvement.
  • Maintain a robust, qualified sales pipeline with forecastable opportunities for strategic public sector projects, ensuring governance, risk management, commercial rigor, and accountability for revenue growth.
  • Enhance Capgemini’s reputation as a leading transformation partner by sharing informed perspectives on public sector reform, ERP modernization, digital government, sovereign capabilities, AI, cloud technologies, cyber security, and operational excellence.

Candidate Profile

  • Significant experience in senior sales, client partnership, account or business development leadership within professional services, technology, consulting, or systems integration, especially involving large public sector transformation engagements.
  • Proven effectiveness in developing trusted advisory relationships and influencing C-suite and executive buyers in public sector environments prior to formal procurement.
  • Expertise in managing multi-stakeholder sales efforts with lengthy sales cycles, competitive positioning, formal RFP responses, governance, commercial negotiations, and gaining executive sponsorship.
  • Track record of winning or shaping significant transformation projects, ideally focusing on ERP modernization, digital government initiatives, cloud, data, cyber security, business transformation, or critical platform deployments.
  • Strong understanding of public sector operational dynamics including decision-making, procurement processes, probity standards, budgeting, risk profile, and the delivery of public value outcomes.
  • Ability to align and mobilize internal multidisciplinary teams within a matrix organization securing commitment across delivery, solution, commercial, legal, alliance, regional, and global stakeholders.
  • Executive presence, sound commercial judgment, and resilience necessary to engage credibly with senior clients, partners, and internal leadership under pressure during strategic pursuits.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both spoken and written, capable of crafting persuasive sales narratives, executive briefings, proposals, win themes, and board-level updates.

Additional Information

  • This position is Wellington-based and favors candidates with established credibility and connections across New Zealand’s public sector agencies, central government, and regulated or critical public environments.
  • Applicants must have full working rights for New Zealand and Australia to be eligible.
