About the Organization
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a global humanitarian organization established in 1933 to assist individuals affected by crises worldwide. Operating in over 40 countries and multiple US cities, IRC strives to restore health, safety, education, economic stability, and empowerment to communities impacted by conflicts and disasters.
Project Context
IRC is launching a nutrition-related initiative in Multan, funded by UNICEF, initially planned for 4 months with the potential for extension. The Cleaner role will directly support the Supply Chain Officer in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within project facilities.
Primary Duties
- Perform daily cleaning tasks including tidying rooms, cleaning floors/carpets, surfaces, and fixtures in designated areas according to set standards and schedules.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of cleaning supply storage; request replenishments as needed; ensure cleaning tools and materials are kept clean and functional.
- Regularly clean bathrooms and dining areas to uphold hygiene standards.
- Empty trash bins daily; prepare for scheduled waste collection; manage disposal or storage of equipment boxes and shipping containers as directed.
- Sweep outdoor pathways, stairs, and surrounding spaces at least once daily; collect and dispose of litter.
- Clean windows, appliances such as refrigerators, fans, air conditioners, and lighting fixtures as scheduled or on demand; wash carpets when necessary.
- Provide laundry and kitchen assistance when assigned.
- Respond promptly to emergency or spot-cleaning requests.
- Maintain backup water supplies as required.
- Set up rooms for meetings and related activities as assigned.
- Identify and report maintenance issues including plumbing, lighting, windows, doors, and cleaning equipment problems.
- Engage in ongoing professional training and development activities as requested.
Reporting Structure
The cleaner will report directly to the Supply Chain Officer based in Multan.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Minimum completion of matriculation.
- Experience: At least two years of relevant cleaning experience within an office environment, preferably with international or local NGOs, INGOs, or private sector entities.
- Specific Skills: Strong personal hygiene and good health; proficient cleaning capabilities; receptive to supervision and eager to learn; able to work independently while managing concurrent tasks efficiently.
- Prior experience in a similar role within the NGO or development sector is advantageous.
