Job Overview

As a Cleaner with BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions, your core responsibility will be maintaining cleanliness within an assigned area with a strong focus on quality, health, and safety, aiming to surpass client expectations. Reporting to the Manager/Supervisor, you will execute various cleaning tasks necessary to support operations.

Main Duties

• Sweep, scrub, vacuum, and mop floors, including polishing hard surfaces.
• Operate manual or powered floor care equipment such as auto-scrubbers and buffing machines.
• Perform floor stripping, sealing, finishing, and polishing as needed.
• Transport garbage to disposal locations and handle maintenance machinery transfers.
• Clean glass, washrooms, stairwells, elevator cabs, and other areas requiring ladders or scaffolding.
• Load/unload supplies and replenish cleaning solutions.
• Follow safety procedures when using chemicals and equipment to prevent damage.
• Steam clean or shampoo carpets.
• Report major repair or building system needs to management.
• Mix detergents and prepare cleaning solutions as per specifications.
• Remove snow and debris from external areas using appropriate equipment or chemicals.
• Undertake any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience in cleaning, housekeeping, and maintenance tasks within institutional settings.
• Proficient with floor maintenance machines, cleaning tools, materials, and solutions.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations, including WHMIS standards.
• Physical ability to lift, push, pull heavy items and climb ladders.
• Strong interpersonal skills to foster cooperative relationships with staff, clients, and the public.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, varying shifts, and at multiple locations.
• Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions and maintain records accurately.

Licensing and Clearances

• Must comply with security clearance requirements when applicable.
• Possession of a valid Class G driver's license may be required.

Physical Demands

Compensation

This is a full-time position offering an hourly wage between $17.60 and $20.88, depending on experience, education, and role performance.
