Job description

Overview

This role involves delivering nurturing and developmentally suitable care and educational activities for children and youth ages 6 weeks to 18 years within Child and Youth Services programs. The assistant maintains vigilant supervision ensuring the safety and whereabouts of children during daily routines, group activities, field trips, and special events.

Key Duties

  • Provide age-appropriate developmental care and guidance for children and youth from infancy through adolescence.
  • Ensure constant supervision and safety management of children during all program activities both indoors and outdoors including outings and special events.
  • Support the execution of structured activities, schedules, and routines based on established curriculum and activity plans.
  • Assist in preparing and serving suitable snacks and meals.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations such as evacuations, illnesses, or physical and emotional needs of children.

Employment Conditions

  • Direct deposit enrollment and Social Security documentation are mandatory.

Qualifications

Applicants should submit a concise resume (two pages or less) highlighting relevant skills and experience. Specific qualifications vary by level:

  • Entry Level (CY-01): Minimum age 18, high school diploma or equivalent, effective oral and written English communication.
  • Skill Level (CY-01): Same as entry plus at least 6 months experience in group child/youth programs, completion of Department of the Army standardized training or equivalent industry training, or 6 college semester hours in related education fields.
  • Target Level (CY-02): Same as skill level but with at least 12 months experience, knowledge of child/youth development principles, completion of advanced training or credentials, or 12 college semester hours in relevant specialized studies.

Education

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. Documents proving education must be in English or translated accordingly. Higher level qualifications require supporting transcripts or certifications related to the position.
