Microavia, based in Dubai, specializes in pioneering autonomous systems and drone technologies for both commercial and government uses. As the company expands its technology and product lines, it seeks an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead its technology strategy, engineering teams, and product innovation.

Role Overview

The CTO will define and execute the company's technology vision, ensuring the alignment of engineering efforts with business goals. This senior leadership position demands a balance of strategic foresight and hands-on technical involvement, overseeing end-to-end product development and engineering leadership.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Microavia's long-term technology roadmap and architecture.
• Convert business and customer needs into prioritized technology and product objectives.
• Explore and integrate emerging technologies to enhance product competitiveness.
• Provide strategic technology advice to the CEO and executive team regarding investments, priorities, risks, and opportunities.
• Oversee the complete lifecycle of technology and product development, from initial concept to deployment and iteration.
• Ensure engineering solutions meet robustness, scalability, reliability, and customer expectations.
• Establish efficient engineering processes that balance high standards with agility.
• Manage technology projects, including planning, resource allocation, milestone setting, risk mitigation, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams fostering accountability, excellence, and collaboration.
• Drive research and development initiatives, particularly in autonomous systems and drones, including partnerships with external experts and institutions.
• Maintain compliance with UAE and global regulatory standards and enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Represent technology in engagements with customers, partners, and stakeholders, translating complex technical requirements into practical solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related fields.
• Minimum five years in senior technology or engineering leadership roles, preferably within robotics, autonomous systems, UAV/drone tech, aerospace, or similar environments.
• Comprehensive experience managing full product development lifecycles and complex technology projects.
• Strong knowledge of system architectures and multidisciplinary engineering including hardware, software, embedded systems, electronics, and autonomous technologies.
• Proven leadership skills in building and managing high-performing engineering teams.
• Project management expertise; PMP or equivalent certification is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills adept at clarifying technical complexities for business contexts.
• Experience collaborating with clients and senior stakeholders on technically complex projects.
• Strategic thinker with a hands-on and execution-driven leadership approach.
• Experience in dynamic, fast-paced, or startup technology environments is a plus.
