Role Overview
The Cashier position is vital within the customer service team, responsible for delivering prompt, friendly, and accurate service at checkout. This role involves processing customer purchases and returns, as well as overseeing the Self-Checkout section. Cashiers actively enhance their product and project knowledge to assist customers effectively and recognize sales opportunities. Maintaining store policies helps reduce losses due to theft or errors.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently handle checkout and return transactions with accuracy and safety.
- Monitor and maintain the Self-Checkout area to ensure smooth operation.
- Seek out product and project information to better support customers and encourage sales.
- Adhere strictly to all store policies and procedures aimed at minimizing inventory shrinkage.
- For those advancing to Head Cashier, assist by managing cashier placement and support, including expediting price checks and approving sales transactions and markdowns across various sales points such as main registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
- Serve as the first point of escalation for customer concerns, helping to resolve issues effectively.
- Support the training and coaching of new and existing Front End Associates to foster team development.
Qualifications and Experience
- Cashier candidates should have experience in handling customer transactions and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
- The preferred qualification for a Head Cashier role includes at least one year of prior experience as a Cashier.
