Cashier

Overview

Cashiers serve an essential role in delivering prompt, cordial, precise, and secure service to customers. They handle checkout and return transactions while overseeing the Self-Checkout zones. With proactive learning about products and projects, cashiers assist customers by sharing helpful information and recognizing opportunities for sales. They strictly adhere to all company policies and procedures aimed at reducing shrinkage.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Process customer purchases and returns efficiently and accurately.
• Supervise and maintain the Self-Checkout areas to ensure smooth operation.
• Continuously acquire product knowledge to effectively assist customers and enhance sales.
• Follow established guidelines to minimize shrinkage and prevent losses.

Role of a Head Cashier

• Coordinate cashier positioning and expedite price checks as needed.
• Authorize Point of Sale (POS) transactions and markdowns across various service areas including main registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for customer concerns.
• Support supervisory functions by coaching, training, and assisting other Front End Associates and new Cashiers.
• Make use of available tools to develop cashier skills and performance.

Preferred Qualification

At least one year of prior experience working as a cashier is desirable for those aspiring to the Head Cashier position.
