Job description
Position Overview
The Cashier plays a vital role in delivering excellent customer service by ensuring transactions are completed quickly, accurately, and safely. Responsibilities include managing checkout and return transactions and overseeing the Self-Checkout area to maintain smooth operation.
Key Duties
- Efficiently process purchases and returns at checkout counters.
- Monitor and maintain the Self-Checkout zone to assist customers and ensure proper usage.
- Continuously acquire product and project knowledge to assist customers and identify potential sales opportunities.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures to minimize inventory shrinkage.
- For Head Cashiers: assign cashier positions and support team members by expediting price checks, approving transactions and markdowns across various registers, including mainline, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
- Act as first-level escalation point for customer concerns.
- Assist in training and coaching Front End Associates, participating in onboarding of new Cashiers and using available tools to foster development.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of experience working as a Cashier.
