Carpenter

Overview

This role is based in Dubai, UAE, with the primary responsibility of responding to guest repair requests and maintaining hotel facilities as part of The Luxury Collection, a Marriott International portfolio brand known for its luxury hotels and resorts worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend promptly to guest repair demands and communicate effectively to resolve maintenance issues.
• Conduct preventive upkeep on tools and kitchen/mechanical equipment, including cleaning and lubrication tasks.
• Visually inspect and operate tools, machinery, shut-off valves, and building utility controls.
• Manage maintenance inventories and requisition necessary parts and supplies when required.
• Communicate daily activities and any issues to incoming shifts using designated communication protocols.
• Demonstrate or acquire knowledge in areas such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical systems, mechanical and plumbing systems, pneumatics/electronics, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy efficiency, and general building maintenance.
• Perform surface preparations, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, replace light bulbs and air conditioning filters, and ensure thorough area cleanup post maintenance.
• Test, troubleshoot, and carry out basic repairs on various equipment, plumbing including unclogging drains, electrical components (including lamps, switches, outlets), and other guestroom items.
• Program televisions and assist with inventory duties related to housekeeping and engineering.
• Adhere strictly to Lockout/Tagout safety procedures before commencing maintenance tasks.
• Handle repairs on both interior and exterior landscaping features, including sprinkler systems.
• Utilize basic computer skills for scheduling air handlers and adjusting temperature settings.
• Follow all organizational safety, security policies, and procedures while reporting hazards or incidents promptly.
• Maintain professional appearance, confidentiality of company information, and protect company assets.
• Deliver warm, attentive guest service adhering to company standards and accessibility needs.
• Collaborate harmoniously with colleagues to meet team goals and respond constructively to concerns.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting objects up to 50 pounds unassisted, using stairs, ramps, ladders, and engaging in bending, twisting, pulling, stooping motions.
• Enter and retrieve work-related information using computer systems.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Some prior experience in general maintenance, painting, surface preparation, and repair work is desirable.
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is an advantage.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• No supervisory experience is needed for this non-management position.
