Carpenter

Position Overview

You will be responsible for addressing guest repair requests promptly and maintaining smooth communication with guests to resolve any maintenance concerns. Key duties include performing preventive upkeep on tools and various kitchen and mechanical room machinery through cleaning and lubrication, conducting visual inspections of tools and equipment, and safely using equipment.

Daily Duties

• Identify and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and utilities within buildings.
• Manage maintenance inventory and request necessary parts and supplies.
• Communicate daily activities and issues to subsequent shifts using established methods.
• Demonstrate or gain knowledge in multiple maintenance areas including air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical and mechanical systems, plumbing, pneumatics/electronics, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, and energy conservation.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall repairs, wood trim fixes, light bulb and air conditioning filter replacements, ensuring thorough cleanup after repairs.
• Test, diagnose, and execute basic repairs on equipment including plumbing tasks like plunging toilets and clearing drains, electrical components such as lamps and outlets, guestroom electronics, vacuum cleaners, and internet devices.
• Program televisions and carry out housekeeping and inventory tasks related to engineering.
• Adhere to Lockout/Tagout safety procedures during maintenance activities.
• Maintain interior and exterior landscaping and repair sprinkler systems.
• Utilize basic computer skills for tasks such as adjusting air handler schedules and modifying temperature controls.
• Follow all company safety and security policies, report hazards and incidents, complete required safety training, and handle flammable materials safely.
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance and respect company confidentiality and asset protection.
• Deliver exceptional guest service according to company standards including welcoming guests, assisting those with disabilities, and showing genuine appreciation.
• Foster positive working relationships, support team goals, communicate clearly and professionally.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance, navigate stairs, ramps, and ladders, and reach overhead and below knees during work.
• Access work-related information using computers and perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
• Some experience in general maintenance including surface preparation and painting, both indoors and outdoors.
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is advantageous.
• No supervisory experience required.
