About the Role

The Carpenter will be responsible for addressing guest repair requests and maintaining equipment and facilities at the hotel. The role involves performing preventive maintenance on kitchen and mechanical room tools and equipment, inspecting tools and machines, and carrying necessary equipment for daily tasks. The employee must identify and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and utilities, manage inventory and requisition supplies as needed, and communicate daily activities and issues effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to guest repair requests and maintain clear communication with guests and customers to resolve maintenance issues.
• Conduct preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning and lubrication of tools and equipment.
• Visually inspect all relevant tools, equipment, and machinery for optimal functioning.
• Handle equipment transport during duties, including tools and radios.
• Operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all building utility shut-offs.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and order parts or supplies when necessary.
• Communicate daily activities and problems occurring during shifts using approved communication standards.
• Acquire or maintain basic knowledge across multiple maintenance disciplines, including air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, and general building maintenance.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, drywall and wood trim repairs, light bulb and air conditioning filter replacement, with thorough cleaning after completion.
• Test, troubleshoot, and conduct basic repairs on various equipment and systems, including plumbing (e.g., unclogging drains), electrical components (lamps, switches, outlets), cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, and internet devices.
• Program televisions and assist with housekeeping and engineering inventory duties.
• Use Lockout/Tagout procedures before any maintenance work for safety compliance.
• Perform interior and exterior landscaping repairs as well as maintenance of external landscaping sprinklers.
• Demonstrate basic computer skills to input air handler schedules and adjust temperature settings.
• Adhere to company policies and safety/security protocols, report hazards and incidents, complete safety training, and properly handle flammable materials.
• Maintain a professional appearance, confidentiality, and protect company assets.
• Welcome and acknowledge guests following company standards and assist guests with disabilities sensitively.
• Work collaboratively with team members to achieve common goals, communicate clearly and professionally, and support others.
• Perform physical tasks such as moving objects up to 50 pounds unassisted and heavier objects with help; navigate stairs, ramps, and ladders; perform bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping motions as part of job duties.
• Complete other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• Some experience in general maintenance, including surface preparation and painting, is desirable.
• Prior experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is advantageous.
• A valid Driver’s License is required.
• This is an individual contributor role with no supervisory responsibilities.
