Carpenter

Position Overview

This role involves responding to guest repair requests promptly and effectively, ensuring maintenance issues are resolved through clear communication with guests and customers. The Carpenter will conduct preventive maintenance on various tools and equipment found in the kitchen and mechanical rooms, including cleaning and lubricating them. Regular visual inspections of tools, equipment, and machines are required, and the role includes transporting equipment such as tools and radios as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and utilities within buildings.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and request necessary parts and supplies.
• Communicate daily activities and challenges to other shifts using established communication methods.
• Demonstrate or develop foundational knowledge in fields such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building maintenance.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, light bulb and air conditioning filter replacement, and thoroughly clean work areas.
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing issues (e.g., unclog toilets and drains), electrical components, and guestroom items including lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches, and outlets.
• Program televisions and assist with housekeeping and engineering inventory tasks.
• Adhere to Lockout/Tagout safety procedures before conducting maintenance work.
• Carry out repairs on interior and exterior landscaping, including irrigation sprinkler systems.
• Use basic computer skills to manage air handler schedules and adjust temperatures.
• Comply with all company safety, security policies, and training; report hazards, accidents, or injuries; correctly store flammable materials.
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance and protect company assets and confidential information.
• Provide excellent guest service by warmly welcoming guests, anticipating and addressing their needs, assisting individuals with disabilities, and expressing genuine appreciation.
• Contribute positively to team efforts, maintain respectful communication, and address coworkers’ concerns effectively.
• Perform physical tasks that involve moving, lifting, or carrying objects up to 50 pounds unaided and heavier items with assistance; navigate stairs, ramps, and ladders; bend, twist, stoop, and reach overhead and below the knees as required.
• Access and utilize work-related data via computer systems.
• Execute additional reasonable duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of high school or equivalent (G.E.D).
• Experience with general maintenance, surface preparation, painting for both interior and exterior environments.
• Previous work in hotel engineering or maintenance is advantageous.
• No supervisory experience required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver's license.
