Caretaker

Overview

Equans UK & Ireland is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to be based at Blackburn Central High School (postcode BB2 3HJ). This is a permanent full-time position, offering 37.5 hours per week with a gross annual salary of £25,954.50, along with a range of employee benefits.

Shift Pattern

The role involves working on a rotating weekly shift schedule:

• Shift 1: 05:30 – 13:30
• Shift 2: 14:00 – 22:00

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake routine caretaking duties, cleaning, and perform minor maintenance tasks to uphold the school environment.
• Manage site security responsibilities, including the opening and closing of school premises.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with school staff and community users.
• Ensure that all services are delivered consistently to a high standard.
• Support compliance with health and safety regulations across the site.
• Collaborate closely with the Area Supervisor to assist with effective service delivery at the location.

Desirable Qualities (Not Mandatory)

• Previous experience in caretaking, facilities management, or maintenance roles.
• Experience in supervising or supporting colleagues.
• Basic understanding of building maintenance or systems.
• Knowledge of health and safety best practices.

Additional Information

• The successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. Support will be provided throughout this process.
