Role Overview

The Coating Operator position based in Newcastle, NE11 0SD is a full-time, permanent role responsible for managing coating machinery to ensure the production of products that meet high-quality standards. Key duties include preparing coating mixtures, overseeing machinery performance, performing quality inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety and company protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate coating machinery according to standard procedures and production guidelines.
• Monitor and adjust machine settings including gauges, valves, pressures, temperatures, and flow rates to optimize performance and quality.
• Clean, maintain, and lubricate coating equipment and related parts regularly.
• Accurately prepare coating solutions by following specific formulas and material measurements.
• Modify machine parameters as needed to maintain efficiency and quality benchmarks.
• Conduct thorough quality checks ensuring print clarity, accurate colors, consistent coating application, and alignment with customer requirements.
• Test coat weights and other functional attributes to validate product quality and performance.
• Keep detailed production logs, machine records, and quality documentation up to date.
• Report equipment malfunctions, defects, and suggest process improvements promptly.
• Adhere strictly to Health & Safety policies and company standards in all tasks.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to achieve production goals and deadlines.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Prior experience operating machinery in manufacturing or production settings.
• Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on maintaining quality standards.
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team.
• Good problem-solving capabilities and organizational skills.
• Capacity to meet stringent production deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts as required.
• Industry experience in printing, labeling, packaging, or coating sectors is preferred.
• Understanding of quality control methods and manufacturing best practices.
