Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking a Buyer who will strategically plan and select merchandise assortments based on customer demand, current trends, store policies, and pricing goals. This role requires collaborating with the Brand Manager and General Manager to align purchasing activities with budget targets and sales objectives.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute buying activities according to the brand's purchasing plans.
- Maintain and nurture profitable relationships with current suppliers, ensuring contract compliance.
- Lead seasonal business strategies aligned with brand positioning to develop a comprehensive Gross Margin Plan.
- Create refined assortment and investment plans tailored to market demands.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies and timelines to guarantee on-time delivery.
- Negotiate with new suppliers on pricing, payment terms, freight costs, training provisions, and promotional involvement to finalize purchase orders.
- Collaborate on Open-To-Buy (OTB) planning in coordination with planning teams.
- Manage critical path milestones, range building, and product selection to achieve seasonal business goals.
- Prepare and oversee the buying calendar to ensure timely purchasing activities.
- Develop product focus plans with Marketing and Visual Merchandising teams to promote key initiatives.
- Work to retain existing business and explore new product categories.
- Organize customer focus groups and conduct competitive shopping to gather market insights.
- Analyze weekly sales performance by style, category, and business unit; adjust volume and production accordingly to maximize revenue.
- Manage Turnaround (TNA) plans for development and delivery.
- Conduct frequent competitor surveys to identify gaps and inform improvements in range planning.
- Oversee product range hierarchy and seasonal phasing plans.
- Responsibility for the seasonal visual theme ('The Look') by guiding product choices, in-store visual merchandising, and layout designs.
- Stay updated on market trends and competitors' activities.
- Coordinate product training for staff, delivering regular trend sessions to business units.
- Review feedback reports on buying strategies and advise General Management on future direction for brands or collections.
