Job description
About Evervault
Evervault specializes in online card payment infrastructure, serving companies integrating card payments into their offerings and sophisticated merchants managing payment routing internally. Noteworthy clients like Ramp, Overwolf, and Modern Treasury rely on Evervault's technology. The company is also expanding its encryption solutions to protect sensitive data beyond card payments in sectors such as banking, healthcare, identity, and crypto, aiming to streamline secure data transfer without compliance burdens.
Role Overview
The Business Development Representative will challenge outdated sales tactics by strategically identifying and engaging with technical leaders—CTOs, CPOs, VPs of Product Engineering, and founders—at companies sized 100-5,000 employees, targeting moments when their needs for card infrastructure intensify. The focus is on smartly timed, tailored outreach instead of generic cold contacts.
Key Success Metrics
- Generate 16 qualified sales opportunities each quarter.
- Establish contact within target accounts through targeted stakeholder analysis, cold calls, event networking, emails, and social media engagement directed at key personas.
- Develop expertise as a subject matter expert in the card payments industry.
Core Responsibilities
- Apply signal-based prospecting by monitoring triggers such as new payment service providers, geographic expansions, launches of card issuing or embedded payments, key hires in payments or compliance roles, and PCI DSS audits.
- Conduct payment-focused research to map a target's existing payment technology stack and detect areas of pain like compliance burdens, vendor lock-in, authorization failures, or fraud risks.
- Execute personalized outreach using calls, emails, LinkedIn messages, and warm introductions focused on addressing pain points like compliance reduction, flexible card data routing, improved authorization rates, and fraud prevention.
- Maintain regular cold calling sessions to initiate discussions with technical buyers and understand their current card payment practices.
- Gain deep knowledge of card payments concepts such as tokenization, payment orchestration, network tokens, 3DS protocols, PCI DSS version 4.0, and card network dispute rules for credible engagements.
- Engage actively in fintech, payments, and founder/CTO communities and convert event participation into potential leads.
- Collaborate with venture capitalists, payment service providers, consultants, and partner vendors to source warm leads that align with Evervault’s offerings.
- Qualify prospects according to company criteria and ensure seamless handoff to Account Executives with detailed context on technical stacks, challenges, and timing.
Candidate Profile
- Between 1 and 2 years of experience in business development, ideally selling API-based solutions to technical audiences.
- Proven ability to perform in-depth research and craft personalized outreach rather than rely on high-volume generic activities.
- Understanding of challenges faced by businesses processing large volumes of card payments.
- Strong interest in linking business payment challenges with technical solutions.
