Serving contractors, developers, and construction firms, Premier helps optimize operations, enhance decision-making, and increase profitability. The company is expanding its presence throughout North America, Australia, and the UAE, investing in talent to advance construction technology.
Role Overview
The Business Development Representative (BDR) focuses on generating a sales pipeline by identifying and engaging construction industry prospects, such as general contractors, developers, and subcontractors. This role involves initiating meaningful dialogues with owners, finance, and operations leaders to uncover challenges and set qualified meetings for the sales team.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage target accounts via outbound calls, emails, social media, and following up on events.
- Conduct rapid research on each prospect's organizational structure, projects, and technology stack to tailor outreach.
- Lead consultative conversations aiming to identify business issues related to job costing, work-in-progress, billing, and fragmented software systems.
- Qualify prospects according to ideal customer profile and scheduling criteria, arranging meetings for Account Executives.
- Meet daily and weekly targets for communication activities and meetings set.
- Maintain accurate and organized records in CRM and sales engagement platforms.
- Support trade shows and events by pre-scheduling appointments, attending, and following up afterward.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to refine messaging and campaign strategies for construction finance and operations professionals.
- Provide structured feedback from sales conversations to enhance positioning, competitive insights, and product knowledge.
- Stay informed about Premier’s product capabilities, competitors, and industry workflows to engage prospects competently.
Success Indicators
- Consistently achieve or exceed targets for booked and completed demos.
- Receive positive feedback on meeting quality from Account Executives, reflected in opportunity progression and win rates.
- Maintain reliable activity and pipeline data within CRM systems.
- Establish reputation as a credible resource among construction professionals.
- Demonstrate readiness for advancement to Account Executive or other revenue-generating roles within Premier.
Required Experience and Skills
- 1 to 3 years in Business Development, Sales Development, inside sales, or similar customer-facing positions, preferably in SaaS or B2B environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable engaging executives and field leaders.
- A consultative approach using question-driven conversations instead of scripted sales pitches.
- Proactive and accountable in managing responsibilities and scheduling.
- Familiarity with CRM tools like HubSpot and sales engagement software such as Amplemarket.
- Strong organizational and time management to balance outbound tasks, follow-ups, and preparation.
- A genuine interest in construction processes, job costing, and financial/operational workflows on projects.
- Ability to work remotely across North American time zones using collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams and email.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in selling to construction, real estate development, or related sectors.
- Prior knowledge of ERP, accounting, or project management applications.
- Exposure to prospecting within mid-market and enterprise accounts across North America.
- Use of research and data platforms like ZoomInfo, sales navigator tools, and intent data providers.
- Experience in a high-growth SaaS setting following structured SDR/BDR processes.
- Willingness to travel for industry conferences and team gatherings.
Personal Attributes
- Open to coaching, eager for feedback, and motivated to develop professionally.
- Resilient and persistent with a positive attitude toward outbound prospecting challenges.
- Organized and capable of managing multiple accounts and outreach activities simultaneously.
- Team player who cooperates effectively with sales, marketing, and customer success teams.
- Competitive and results-oriented, driven by achieving and exceeding targets.
- Curious and innovative in experimenting with new messaging, channels, and engagement sequences.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive base salary plus variable pay linked to meetings and pipeline generated.
