Job Overview

We are seeking a Blaster to design, prepare, and safely execute planned explosive blasts tailored to customer requirements at locations served by Dyno Nobel North America (DNNA). This role requires surface blasting expertise to ensure precise, secure, and effective use of explosives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design and implementation of explosive usage strategies to meet customer demands effectively.
  • Adhere to company policies, technical standards, Surface Blasting Standard Operating Procedures, and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of Dyno Nobel products and best practices in explosives and mining industries.
  • Prepare comprehensive blasting reports, maintain accurate inventory records, and complete other relevant documentation.
  • Investigate complaints and issues related to product performance and blasting results; communicate findings to the appropriate plants, management, and Senior Technical Resource Manager.
  • Collaborate with DynoConsult to enhance expertise in advanced applications such as electronic detonators, gassing, and blasting technologies.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with internal teams and customers to fulfill objectives and enhance service value.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to business requests and problem resolutions.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine service practices to boost customer profitability and satisfaction.

Candidate Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent education preferred.
  • Possession of a valid provincial blaster license or eligibility to obtain one based on experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the explosives industry.
  • Supervisory experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written communication.
  • Strong leadership qualities including negotiation, conflict resolution, and motivation skills.
  • Ability to identify and manage safe and unsafe conditions, maintain accurate records, and solve operational and logistical issues.
  • Capability to handle multiple priorities under pressure, meet deadlines, set objectives, and make confident decisions.
