Biologist (Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Biology Expert with a PhD or Master’s degree to join a global research services leader on a full-time remote basis. This position involves designing and solving challenging biology problems to examine the weaknesses of large language models (LLMs) and collaborating with researchers to tailor evaluation tasks. The role focuses on fine-tuning LLMs by applying advanced analytical skills and comprehensive biology knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and tackle complex biology problems aimed at testing the boundaries of LLM capabilities.
• Produce detailed, stepwise solution explanations with rigorous, logical reasoning.
• Work closely with LLM researchers to ensure problem types meet evaluation priorities, especially in areas where models generally perform poorly.
• Help establish new biology-based evaluation benchmarks covering content from early undergraduate to doctoral study levels.
• Simplify and clarify difficult biological ideas, maintaining efficiency and accuracy.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in Biology or related disciplines.
• Strong analytical and research skills within biological sciences.
• Capability to give constructive feedback and provide elaborate annotations.
• Innovative and lateral thinking skills to resolve complex problems.
• Excellent structured communication and teamwork abilities in a remote context.
• Highly self-driven and comfortable working autonomously in a remote setting.
