Job description
Role Overview
The Bill Collector will assist management in reviewing existing or developing financial and operational matters. This involves verifying figures, accounting entries, and documents for their accuracy, and organizing and maintaining all files, records, cash, and cash equivalents. The role includes recording, storing, accessing, and analyzing computerized financial information.
Key Duties
- Classify, code, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records using journals, ledgers, and/or computer systems.
- Prepare, maintain, audit, and distribute statistical, financial, accounting, audit, or payroll reports and tables.
- Prepare, examine, reconcile, and issue account statements, invoices, and billing statements.
- Review, reconcile, or process credit card vouchers, advance deposits, overpayments, cancellations, tax adjustments, and billing vouchers like Marriott Rewards and gift certificates.
- Address and resolve issues or disputes arising from the Shared Services Center, Marriott guests, credit card companies, and banks.
- Conduct credit checks as required.
- Follow up on and resolve overdue accounts receivable.
- Organize, maintain, and manage check guarantee service collections.
- Support management in training, evaluating, advising, and motivating employees, serving as a role model and first point of contact for the fair treatment and open-door policies.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
- Anticipate and attend to guest service needs.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in speech and written documents, competently handle phone calls according to protocol.
- Foster and sustain positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and expectations.
- Perform visual verification of information; stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
- Lift, move, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance.
- Perform reasonable additional duties as requested by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of related professional experience.
- Supervisory Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
- Licenses or Certifications: None required.
