Job description
Job Summary
Seeking a full-time Bartender in Happy Valley–Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. This permanent position requires between 30 to 40 hours per week and offers an hourly rate of $17.00. Candidates should have 1 to 2 years of relevant experience and do not need formal education credentials such as certificates or diplomas.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of the bar area and wash glassware routinely.
- Serve food items or snacks alongside beverages.
- Provide knowledgeable advice and recommendations on wine and drink selections.
- Collect payments via cash, credit or debit cards, and operate the cash register.
- Manage bar inventory by ordering and controlling stock levels.
- Ensure compliance with provincial and territorial liquor laws and regulations.
- Prepare mixed drinks, wines, draft or bottled beers, and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Deliver attentive customer service to all patrons.
- Use computer technology including word processing, internet research, and database software to support bar operations.
- Have own transportation and be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment with extended periods of standing.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 1 to less than 2 years of bartending or related experience.
- No formal degree or certification required.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
- Client-focused with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Organized, reliable, flexible, and a cooperative team player.
- Proficiency in using computer software relevant to hospitality operations.
Working Conditions and Additional Information
- Work shifts may vary, including early morning, morning, day, evening, night, weekends, on-call, flexible hours, shift work, and possible overtime.
- Physically demanding environment requiring standing for extended periods.
