Role Purpose

The Bartender position involves crafting seamless and memorable dining experiences with refined, personalized service that reflects the sophistication of our luxury hotel. This role anticipates guests' desires, ensuring each dining moment is exceptional and enhancing the overall experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage warmly and personally with guests to develop rapport and genuine connections.
• Accurately take orders, maximize sales by applying product knowledge and suggestive selling, and verify orders with guests.
• Clearly record orders to facilitate smooth operations by the cashier and kitchen team.
• Promptly deliver orders to the kitchen and ensure meals retain temperature and presentation standards upon delivery to guests.
• Maintain cleanliness of tables and service areas following procedural guidelines.
• Adhere to hygienic food handling practices throughout service.
• Manage and take ownership of assigned sections and stations.
• Handle incoming calls promptly and boost sales through product expertise and upselling techniques.
• Uphold Sofitel brand standards in all tasks.
• Utilize in-depth knowledge of menus and offerings to maximize sales opportunities.
• Support event and function setup and breakdown activities.
• Deliver room service orders and amenities as needed.
• Perform other reasonable duties within competency scope as requested by supervisors or management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum six months’ experience in a similar role, with preference for prior experience in a five-star environment.
• Consistently present a professional image through appearance and interpersonal skills.
• Motivated to train and mentor team members.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to initiate and maintain rapport effortlessly.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication capabilities.
• Willingness and aptitude for continuous professional development within Sofitel.
• Positive, professional, and approachable attitude with an ability to connect with guests and team members alike.
• Dependable, punctual, attentive to detail, and motivated to exceed expectations.
• Availability for flexible shift patterns, including weekends and public holidays.
• Knowledge of wines, spirits, and cocktails is highly advantageous.
• Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand is required.
