About the Role and Company
Sofitel Queenstown is preparing for an exciting overhaul of its food and beverage venues in 2027, including launching fresh dining concepts. We're seeking a Chef de Partie ready to contribute to building these new offerings from scratch, set in the stunning locale of Queenstown, New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently oversee your kitchen section, ensuring every dish is crafted with accuracy and pride.
- Mentor and develop junior chefs and apprentices, guiding their daily work.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu planning, pricing, and development of new menus aligned with upcoming renovations.
- Maintain rigorous food safety standards following the Food Control Plan, including daily logging of temperatures, cooking, and cleaning data via tablets.
- Manage ordering procedures, stock rotation (FIFO), and minimize food waste to ensure efficient and sustainable operations.
- Coordinate closely with the restaurant team to deliver seamless service, communicating about menu availability and modifications.
- Prepare order sheets and prep lists as required, ensuring proper communication before shift changes or with management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possess a Level 4 Culinary qualification.
- Bring at least 3 years of commercial cookery experience, preferably including work with 5-star or European cuisine.
- Proven ability to run a kitchen section confidently and lead other chefs effectively.
- Solid understanding of Food Control Plans and hygiene regulations.
- Demonstrate organizational skills, calmness under pressure, and clear communication.
- Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and varying shifts (AM & PM), typically 5 days on and 2 days off.
