Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance to guests in selecting wines and beverages that complement their meals, and efficiently take orders.
- Actively promote and upsell food and beverage options whenever possible.
- Coordinate, oversee, and assist in beverage service to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in daily food and beverage meetings along with monthly staff meetings focusing on wine updates.
- Ensure proper maintenance, storage, and sanitation of all liquor service equipment.
- Closely monitor and control beverage stock usage to prevent losses.
- Keep wine stock, supplies, and equipment at required par levels by preparing requisitions to address shortages or forecasted demand; verify receipt and proper storage of wine orders securely.
- Regularly assess the quality of opened wines across food and beverage outlets.
- Inspect wine storage facilities for cleanliness and organization, correcting any deficiencies promptly.
- Collaborate with suppliers and purchasing departments to secure competitively priced products.
- Work in cooperation with the culinary team and restaurant management to develop menu promotions and select wine pairings based on menu items and guest feedback tailored to different outlets.
- Design and implement comprehensive wine training programs for staff.
- Coordinate with wine suppliers to stay updated on new products, training sessions, and promotional events.
- Maintain an up-to-date wine list, prepare budget plans, and monitor sales mix records clearly.
- Engage in special projects aimed at enhancing the hotel's status as a leading wine market presence.
- Adhere strictly to all applicable Licensing Laws.
Qualifications and Additional Details
- Minimum of one year experience in a similar role, preferably within a luxury hotel environment.
- Possession of a Hotel Management degree along with a certificate in bartending.
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
