About the Team
The TikTok Local Service division aims to empower local merchants, creators, and users by enhancing accessibility and intelligence in local experiences. This team leverages cutting-edge artificial intelligence to elevate user conversion rates, optimize merchant and creator operations, and introduce innovative digital interactions within the local services ecosystem.
Role Overview
Join a forward-thinking AI Application group focused on embedding large language models (LLMs) and intelligent agents into practical scenarios such as smart content creation for creators, personalized shopping assistance, automated merchant help, and AI-driven analytics for storefront management. The team values rapid development, bold experimentation, and fast-paced growth, seeking skilled backend engineers to build scalable, intelligent platforms supporting millions of users and thousands of merchants.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust, scalable backend systems for AI-powered products in local services.
- Work collaboratively with product managers and frontend developers to deploy intelligent functionalities.
- Develop APIs, microservices, and data pipelines to support creator content generation and merchant operation tools.
- Enhance system performance targeting reliability, low latency, and cost efficiency in environments with high traffic.
- Contribute to architectural design discussions and enforce engineering best practices to ensure high-quality codebases.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Proficiency in programming with Go, Java, or Python; sound understanding of microservices architecture.
- Experience developing large-scale backend and cloud-native applications leveraging Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
- Knowledge of both relational and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, Redis, and MongoDB.
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems concepts.
- Effective communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional and international teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in backend infrastructure for AI technologies including feature serving, vector retrieval systems, or LLM integration.
- Experience within content platforms or local commerce sectors.
- Exposure to business operations working directly with merchants and creators, with a clear grasp on user and product feedback cycles.
