Project Overview
Join the OTC Clearing team, responsible for delivering, supporting, and modernizing the Calypso platform for a prominent Australian financial market infrastructure client. The role is part of a broad technology transformation effort involving cloud migration, adoption of Aurora PostgreSQL, enhancing DevOps automation, GitLab SaaS migration, observability upgrades, and platform modernization. The team functions in a cross-functional Agile setting with roles spanning Engineering, Quality Engineering, DevOps, Product Management, Business Analysis, and Application Support.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, operate, and support AWS cloud infrastructure underpinning the core platform and its services.
- Develop and oversee CI/CD pipelines using GitLab SaaS for automated, consistent deployments across multiple environments.
- Assist in migrating workloads from on-premises systems to AWS.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible for configuration management.
- Automate tasks related to application deployment, database refreshing, environment provisioning, and operational support.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, QA, Application Support, Infrastructure, and Architecture teams to improve delivery processes and system resilience.
- Support migration to Aurora PostgreSQL through deployment automation, configuration handling, and environment support.
- Enhance observability with logging, monitoring, alerting tools including OpenTelemetry and CloudWatch.
- Manage secrets, certificates, credentials, and access following enterprise security guidelines.
- Participate in release governance, production readiness checks, change management, and incident response efforts.
- Troubleshoot issues related to applications, infrastructure, networks, and deployments across environments.
- Contribute to defining and improving DevOps standards, reusable pipeline templates, and cloud deployment frameworks within the technology landscape.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Over nine years of experience in DevOps, Platform, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability roles supporting cloud infrastructure.
- Advanced proficiency with AWS services, including compute, container orchestration, storage, IAM, networking, monitoring, secrets management, and databases.
- Hands-on experience designing DevOps pipelines for capital markets trading platforms such as Calypso, Murex, or FIS.
- Expertise in managing CI/CD workflows using GitLab SaaS for deployment and release orchestration.
- Skilled in implementing Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and configuration management with Ansible.
- Linux system administration and automation scripting in Bash and Python.
- Experience supporting critical production environments in regulated sectors.
- Knowledge of deployment strategies, change and environment management, and release governance methodologies.
- Established frameworks for monitoring, logging, observability, and incident response.
- Strong troubleshooting capabilities across applications, databases, infrastructure, and network layers.
- Secure management of secrets using tools like HashiCorp Vault.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience collaborating across diverse teams including Engineering, QA, Security, Operations, and Architecture.
- Ability to facilitate alignment among stakeholders to ensure successful delivery and operational stability.
