Job description
Role Overview
You will be responsible for evaluating snowpack stability in alpine backcountry areas within a ski region. This involves digging comprehensive snow profile pits, performing stability tests like compression and extended column assessments, and monitoring persistent weak layers throughout the winter season.
Key Duties
Each day begins with the integration of meteorological data, wind-loading conditions, and field observations to generate a public avalanche danger rating and advisory. Following this, you will conduct ski-cut tests and manage explosive control routes together with the mountain patrol team.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
The role demands strong expertise in backcountry travel, possession of a professional avalanche certification, and the ability to make informed, sound decisions in uncertain and high-risk environments.
