Role Overview
We are expanding our Financial Services Audit & Assurance team in Auckland and seeking an Audit Manager to oversee audit engagements for a diverse set of financial services clients. You will collaborate closely with Partners to manage projects from initiation to completion, build strong client connections, and ensure the delivery of high-quality results within a continuously changing regulatory framework.
This role is also pivotal in team leadership, involving coaching and mentoring junior staff and enhancing your expertise in financial services audits, regulatory compliance, and emerging assurance practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead audit and assurance engagements, ensuring timely, efficient, and high-standard delivery.
- Manage complex audit assignments for financial services clients, including regulated entities.
- Employ audit methodologies, professional judgment, and accounting standards to identify risks and formulate effective audit responses.
- Oversight of team workflow, deadlines, and budgets, keeping Partners and stakeholders updated on progress.
- Foster strong relationships and maintain clear communication with client finance teams, senior leadership, and governance bodies.
- Detect and address accounting, audit, control, or regulatory concerns early, offering practical solutions.
- Adhere strictly to ethical standards, independence, quality assurance, and risk management policies.
- Mentor and support junior team members, providing constructive feedback and nurturing a positive developmental environment.
- Enhance the team's technical skills through training, knowledge sharing, and on-the-job guidance.
- Contribute actively to the growth of BDO Auckland’s Financial Services Audit & Assurance division.
Experience and Qualifications
- A minimum of five years’ experience in audit within a professional services setting.
- Proven expertise with financial services clients, including regulated and complex audit engagements.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, ACA, or equivalent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities.
- Strong ability to juggle multiple projects, deadlines, and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
- Passion for financial services, audit quality, and staff development.
