Personio develops an intelligent HR platform that empowers small to medium-sized companies by simplifying complex and time-intensive HR tasks. Our user-friendly solutions serve over 15,000 customers and their 1.5 million employees, supported by a dedicated team of 1,500 professionals. We invite you to contribute meaningfully right from the start.
This position requires presence in the office three days weekly, with office locations available in Munich or Berlin. Candidates residing elsewhere in Germany may work remotely.
Role Overview
As an Associate Payroll Specialist within the Payroll Services team, your main responsibility is to assist in the payroll processing for clients who cannot execute it independently by preparing payroll data for senior specialists. You will manage specific case types in each payroll cycle, support onboarding activities in collaboration with senior staff, and escalate complex matters beyond your current remit. You'll report directly to the Lead of Payroll Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll cases per cycle for existing clients according to documented guidelines, escalating exceptions appropriately.
- Assist with client onboarding onto alternative payroll processing systems by completing assigned tasks under senior supervision.
- Recognize and escalate any unusual situations or obstacles without independently rerouting or qualifying them.
- Adhere to and contribute to maintaining up-to-date procedural documentation by flagging inconsistencies or outdated information.
- Engage in routine communication with Support and Implementation teams regarding case statuses, elevating complex discussions to senior colleagues.
Qualifications and Skills
- Basic understanding of payroll procedures and compliance regulations, with a developing grasp of irregular scenarios.
- Strong focus on accurately and consistently following established processes.
- Effective professional communication skills in both German and English for internal interactions.
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn and progress toward autonomous case management, embracing mentorship from experienced team members.
Work Environment and Benefits
Personio promotes a hybrid work model balancing office presence and remote work, offering three office days weekly and flexibility for remote work on remaining days. Employees additionally receive 20 flex days annually for remote work from other locations.
- Competitive annual compensation including base salary, benefits, and pre-IPO equity participation.
- 28 days paid vacation with increments after 2 and 4 years of service.
- One fully paid Impact Day annually to contribute to environmental and societal causes.
- Support for family leave, child care, mental health, and sabbaticals.
- Regular social events and cultural initiatives, weekly catered lunches, and availability of healthy snacks and beverages.
Equal Opportunity Statement
Personio is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive workplace where diversity is celebrated and everyone’s unique background is respected.
