The Advisors & Consulting Services team blends traditional consulting expertise with Mastercard's proprietary data and technologies to deliver impactful insights to clients across industries such as banking, retail, and payments.

This 12-month fixed-term position for an Associate Managing Consultant in Performance Analytics is based on-site in Auckland, New Zealand, supporting a major card migration program in Papua New Guinea/Fiji. Within a broad transformation project, this role focuses on applying data-driven insights to guide the smooth, timely, and compliant migration of client payment cards to Mastercard's schemes.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage deliverable development within payments or financial services, emphasizing card migration, credit/debit card products, and regulatory considerations.
  • Design and implement analytics strategies for large-scale clients using data and technology to drive measurable value.
  • Maintain effective client relationships, acting as a dependable and trusted partner.
  • Develop predictive models employing segmentation and regression techniques to enhance profitability.
  • Review analytical outputs to ensure they meet quality, accuracy, and timeliness standards.
  • Acquire new knowledge proactively and organize project work to capture intellectual capital efficiently.
  • Deliver clear client presentations with actionable business recommendations.
  • Plan and structure analyses to resolve client challenges and synthesize findings effectively.
  • Lead meetings with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration.
  • Contribute to the creation of intellectual property and solutions within the firm.
  • Mentor junior consultants and support team members.
  • Build strong relationships with global and local teams and partners.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • A bachelor's degree with experience in data and analytics, including business intelligence or descriptive, predictive, or prescriptive analytics.
  • Proven experience managing clients or internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze large datasets and distill insights through descriptive analytics and business intelligence.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and analytical rigor, capable of quickly adapting.
  • Understanding of metrics, benchmarking, and measurement across various industries.
  • Experience with data analytics tools such as SQL databases (preferred), coding languages like SQL, Python, or R, and skills in building and maintaining data structures.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks effectively in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
  • Strong English communication skills, including any relevant local office language proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with data visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Additional experience with big data ecosystems (e.g., Hadoop) and programming using Impala, Hive, or PySpark.
  • Experience managing workstreams collaboratively and coaching junior consultants.
  • Background knowledge of banking industry operations.
