Key Responsibilities
- Lead moderately complex projects with efficient time management to fulfill targets.
- Apply your technical knowledge and skills to strengthen team initiatives.
- Adapt methods and techniques using sound judgment as project needs evolve.
- Conduct periodic audits such as automation engineering validation master plan reviews.
- Exhibit excellent organizational abilities, prioritization, and team collaboration.
- Ensure routine and preventive maintenance to maintain safe and efficient operation of equipment and facilities.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Develop and update control modules, equipment modules, batch logic, and phases.
- Design and manage DeltaV operator interfaces including graphics, alarms, trends, and reporting.
- Support DCS system upgrades, patch management, migrations, and overall lifecycle management.
- Perform system backups, restorations, and disaster recovery operations.
- Diagnose and resolve automation system failures with effective corrective measures.
- Assist in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, startups, and shutdowns.
- Optimize control strategies to enhance process efficiency, quality, and output.
- Integrate DeltaV systems with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), SCADA, data historians, and other third-party systems.
- Maintain compliance with cybersecurity protocols and automation standards.
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical devices, and control valves.
- Revise and update documentation including instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, P&IDs, and instrument indexes.
- Support new instrumentation system installations, testing, and commissioning efforts.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to improve instrument reliability.
- Troubleshoot communication protocols including HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and Modbus.
- Evaluate control valve conditions and performance diagnostics.
- Participate in projects upgrading instrumentation and automation systems.
- Ensure instrumentation system compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Administer instrument spare parts inventory, technical specifications, and vendor relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the pharmaceutical industry setting.
- Basic programming knowledge in at least one language.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Ability to train colleagues effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience using AI tools such as generative technologies (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to aid problem solving and increase productivity, along with awareness of responsible AI use including ethics and risk management.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in Automation and Instrumentation engineering roles.
- This position requires working on-site at the company premises.
