Role Overview

The Future Technologies team at the Cork site is looking for a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of next-generation power platform products. This role involves full lifecycle responsibility from conceptual design through manufacturing release. You will work closely with engineering disciplines, manufacturing, and suppliers to create quality, compliant, and scalable mechanical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design initiatives including concept, detailed design, and manufacturing release for new technology platforms.
• Engineer complex assemblies using sheet metal, plastic and machined parts.
• Identify and resolve sophisticated design and manufacturability challenges with effective corrective measures.
• Support integration of new technologies into manufacturing processes.
• Work with manufacturing partners to ensure cost-effective, robust, and scalable designs.
• Maintain adherence to Advanced Energy’s design documentation standards and regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and designers.
• Engage in design reviews, technical discussions, and cross-functional problem-solving.
• Keep updated on industry trends and share knowledge within the team.
• Organize and manage design and parts documentation systematically.
• Deliver projects within planned timelines and budgets.

Experience and Skills Required

• Between 5 and 7 years of experience in mechanical technology design, including drafting or equivalent practical skills.
• Expertise in CNC machining, tooling (soft and hard), and design oriented towards mass production.
• Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability principles.
• Proven skills in designing, documenting, and maintaining sheet metal, plastic, and mechanical assemblies.
• Comprehensive understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ISO GPS standards.
• Advanced ability to use CAD software (such as SolidWorks), thermal analysis, and Finite Element Analysis tools.
• Proven project management from concept to production release, including schedule and resource supervision.
• Strong analytical problem solving with sound engineering judgment and methodological innovation.
• Leadership aptitude with excellent communication and mentoring skills.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
