Role Overview

The Associate Engineer for Backgrind and Dicing plays a vital role in wafer manufacturing by managing backgrind and dicing operations prior to final shipment. The role requires hands-on involvement in equipment operation, process monitoring, defect control, and continuous process optimization while ensuring safety and quality standards are upheld. Collaboration with process and equipment engineers and cross-functional teams is essential for troubleshooting and improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day backgrind and dicing activities.
  • Conduct inspections of incoming and outgoing wafers to ensure quality compliance.
  • Perform laminating, taping/detaping, and thickness measurement according to defined processes and record data into SiView.
  • Execute planned equipment preventive maintenance to maintain operational reliability.
  • Record Statistical Process Control (SPC) data for critical equipment parameters.
  • Support operations on other fabrication lines such as diffusion, implant, or wet processes as required.
  • Adhere strictly to Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or ITE Hi-Nitec certification in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical disciplines.
  • At least two years of experience in an electronics production environment, preferably OSAT or assembly with focus on backgrind or dicing processes.
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies.
