Role Overview
The role of Assistant Store Manager at our Rutherford location is an energetic retail leadership position requiring work during Sunday to Thursday shifts. You will play a vital role in assisting the Store Manager to elevate store sales, nurture a customer-focused culture, and enhance team capabilities while embodying Early Settler’s core values.
Core Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Store Manager to boost sales and hit performance targets through effective merchandise selling
- Engage customers to help transform their home design ideas into reality by offering styling advice, upselling, and cross-selling based on customer needs
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team to meet goals and deliver a memorable shopping experience with top-tier customer service
- Assist with daily store operations, including staff scheduling, financial oversight, administrative duties, recruitment, and onboarding of new employees
- Help develop and execute strategies aimed at maximizing sales and customer satisfaction to improve store results
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 to 3 years in retail sales with a demonstrated history of target achievement
- Strong commercial insight paired with a results-oriented approach to turn strategies into measurable outcomes
- Proven ability to coach, support, and inspire teams to deliver excellence in customer service
- Problem-solving skills with a proactive and positive attitude
- Competent in managing the balance between customer care, team leadership, and administrative responsibilities
- An interest or enthusiasm for home styling, furniture, or enhancing living spaces is advantageous

- Physical capability to perform regular manual handling tasks including lifting and moving furniture items safely
