Role Overview
As an Assistant Store Manager based in Brampton, Ontario, you will lead and develop your store team to provide exceptional customer service. You will assist pet owners by recommending suitable nutrition and care products, being part of a passionate group of pet experts. This role offers opportunities to grow within one of the top pet retail chains in North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all customer service standards are consistently delivered by store staff and maintain positive relations within the community, including with organizations like the Humane Society.
- Lead the management of store employees, which includes recruitment, scheduling, training, supervising daily tasks, and coaching for performance improvement.
- Maintain operational standards by ensuring all employees comply with corporate procedures and policies.
- Handle administrative duties such as placing orders, managing inventory, completing store and safety audits, coordinating minor repairs, and processing corporate paperwork.
- Drive the store's business goals by coordinating efforts with store staff to achieve set targets.
- Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least two years of experience in customer service and retail store management.
- A passion for continuous learning and growth within the pet care industry.
- Friendly and outgoing personality coupled with strong customer service capabilities.
- Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as per schedule requirements.
- Reliable transportation means to commute to and from the store.
- Capability to observe, coach, and provide feedback to employees regarding sales techniques and exceptional service delivery.
- Ability to identify and manage team conflicts, escalating issues when necessary.
- Proficient in using POS (point of sale) systems.
- Physical ability to repeatedly lift weights up to 50 pounds.
- Industry experience is considered a plus.
