Position Overview
The Assistant Store Manager plays a crucial role in supporting overall store operations and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This position assists the Store Manager in managerial duties and takes leadership in their absence, ensuring smooth daily workflows, managing personnel, and driving sales objectives.
Core Responsibilities
- Prioritize customer needs consistently and uphold a high standard of customer service throughout the store.
- Lead by example to cultivate excellent customer service among all team members.
- Actively find opportunities to achieve or surpass sales targets while ensuring the entire team is aware of their KPIs and goals.
- Implement promotional campaigns and stock-related offers seamlessly within the store.
- Regularly audit store administrative processes to identify and resolve issues promptly, embracing changes positively.
- Partner with the Store Manager to set attainable sales goals, monitor sales data, and analyze performance metrics.
- Oversee sales strategies to maximize revenue and help the store meet its business objectives.
- Manage inventory by maintaining accurate stock levels through routine checks and replenishments, and ensure the store layout and visual merchandising meet brand standards.
- Maintain appropriate stock packages and levels to unlock sales potential and sustain high visual merchandising standards among all employees.
- Effectively communicate changes in store stock or layout to the team and ensure compliance with retail standards.
- Supervise back-store operations and ensure timely merchandise restocking.
- Manage staff scheduling, including work hours, vacations, and days off, resolving any staff concerns and providing constructive feedback when needed.
- Promote active participation from sales staff in setting store goals and action plans while ensuring adherence to company dress code and presentation guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of staff leaves.
- Ensure strict adherence to store security protocols, maintaining awareness around stock and cash security.
- Perform disciplinary actions when necessary, demonstrating reliability, punctuality, and confidentiality.
- Uphold ethical standards and integrity in every decision-making process.
Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess over three years of progressive experience in customer-focused roles within retail, featuring strong leadership, management, and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated success in improving customer engagement and surpassing sales KPIs is essential. A bachelor’s degree in business administration, retail management, or related fields is preferred.
