Assistant Retail Sales Advisor

About the Role

Join Auckland Zoo's Brand Experience & Business Development team as an Assistant Retail Sales Advisor, working behind the scenes to support and enhance the growth of the Auckland Zoo Shop. This full-time, permanent position is based onsite at Auckland Zoo and involves working 40 hours per week. You'll collaborate closely with the Retail Sales Advisor and Storeroom Coordinator to ensure smooth retail operations through stock management, procurement, supplier coordination, online order fulfillment, customer service, and visual merchandising.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage stock and inventory tasks including accurate product data entry, ordering supplies, receiving goods, invoicing processes, conducting regular stock counts, and executing two comprehensive stocktakes annually.
• Maintain the shop's visual appeal and ensure it is well stocked and inviting for visitors.
• Assist shop floor staff with daily operations and resolving issues promptly.
• Handle fulfillment of online orders, monitor and respond to email and phone enquiries, and support maintenance of the Zoo Shop’s e-commerce platform.
• Help oversee supplier relations, manage transactions through Lightspeed and Shopify, support month-end financial reporting, analyze retail sales data, and implement security measures for a safe and professional retail environment.

Qualifications and Experience

• Must possess a minimum of NCEA Level 3 qualification.
• Essential prior experience in retail to succeed in this role.
• A current New Zealand driver’s licence is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with Lightspeed and Shopify is an advantage but not compulsory.

Reliability, organization, proactive problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks are crucial.
