Assistant Manager - Freight Forwarding

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and seasoned Assistant Manager to oversee freight forwarding activities within our logistics team based in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily freight forwarding operations, coordinating shipments across air, sea, and land, and ensuring timely deliveries while providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily freight forwarding processes and operations.
• Coordinate shipments involving air, sea, and land transportation modes.
• Manage booking procedures, track shipments, and organize delivery schedules.
• Prepare, verify, and manage shipping and customs documentation accurately.
• Liaise with airlines, shipping lines, transportation operators, customs officials, and international partners to facilitate smooth shipments.
• Monitor shipment progress and promptly resolve any operational challenges.
• Formulate freight quotations and negotiate competitive rates with service vendors.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and agent networks.
• Supervise and guide the operations team to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
• Track and control costs, billing processes, and shipment profitability.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and compliance with Qatar customs regulations.
• Provide timely operational reports and updates to senior management.

Candidate Requirements

• Diploma or degree qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Freight Forwarding, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in freight forwarding or the logistics sector.
• Thorough understanding of air, sea, and land freight modalities.
• Experienced in shipment documentation and customs clearance processes.
• Excellent communication skills and proven customer service experience.
• Strong negotiation skills combined with effective problem-solving capabilities.
• Competence in managing and coordinating teams effectively.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications and logistics management systems.
• Previous exposure to Qatar or GCC markets is advantageous.
• Immediate availability to join the team is highly preferred.
