About the Role
Programmed, a leading provider of open space and facility maintenance services, is seeking an Assistant Gardener to join their horticulture team in Auckland. This position offers hands-on training and skill development while working alongside experienced horticultural professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Support maintenance activities across various parks, street areas, and gardens throughout Auckland.
- Carry out general gardening tasks including upkeep of annual and perennial flower beds, mass planting, and revegetation projects.
- Manage pest, weed, and insect control as well as vegetation maintenance such as pruning, hedge trimming, line trimming, and mulching.
Candidate Profile
- A genuine enthusiasm for outdoor work and green spaces.
- Previous horticulture experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Committed to maintaining Auckland’s public spaces to a high standard.
- Possession of a clean New Zealand Class 1 driver licence, with the ability to operate manual transmission vehicles, is essential.
- Ability to listen, learn from guidance, and follow on-site instructions.
- Motivation to develop horticultural skills and pursue a career in this field.
