Assistant Designer - Menswear

Position Overview

Join Primark as an Assistant Designer within the Menswear segment, where your creative concepts shape our style. Working closely with the Buying and Merchandising teams, you'll help transform trend insights into compelling product ranges that resonate with the Primark brand worldwide. Collaborating alongside Designers and other product teams, you'll contribute to creating fashion-forward and commercially appealing collections.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough research to identify emerging fashion trends and translate these insights into commercially viable product ideas for Primark’s collections.
• Support Designers in the development and construction of impactful, on-trend ranges that balance innovation with commercial success.
• Collaborate effectively with Designers, Buyers, and Merchandisers to deliver creative concepts aligned with the overall brand strategy.
• Oversee design process tasks including tracking updates, managing critical path timelines, and preparing trend and design presentations for internal teams and suppliers.
• Evaluate past range performance alongside the Buying and Merchandising teams to guide future design decisions.
• Maintain strong commercial awareness by understanding cost factors, competitor activities, and trend influences to support the development of profitable products.

Working Relationships

Reporting directly to a Designer, you will engage closely with the Buying and Merchandising teams, and collaborate with cross-category Design teams to ensure cohesive design vision. You'll represent your product categories in various working groups and internal forums to support alignment across the business.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Trainee or Assistant Designer position with a solid grasp of fashion design fundamentals.
• A degree in fashion design or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, capable of producing high-quality design materials.
• Commercially minded with a genuine interest in retail, able to balance creativity and business considerations.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proactive in meeting deadlines effectively.
• Excellent communication abilities, a positive and creative outlook, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment.
