Role Overview
We seek an energetic and passionate individual preferably with a hands-on approach to join as a Hazmat Consultant in the Palmerston North region. Training and mentoring will be provided to support career growth, covering all facets of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct asbestos and hazardous material surveys
- Perform asbestos air monitoring and clearance inspections
- Review and prepare asbestos registers
- Carry out methamphetamine testing and compile reports
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and programs for risk management
- Produce technical reports detailing risk mitigation and management approaches
- Execute occupational hygiene monitoring under manager supervision
Physical and Technical Requirements
- Comfortable working at heights using ladders and scaffolding
- Able to wear protective mask and suits in confined spaces
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and other relevant software applications
- Flexible availability including occasional weekends
- Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively within a team
- Willingness for regular regional travel
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- 1-5 years’ experience as a field technician or similar role; construction background is advantageous but not mandatory
- Holding or ability to obtain an Asbestos Assessor License or equivalent qualification enabling licensed work
- BOHS IP402, IP404, or international equivalent certifications are highly desirable
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite
- Tertiary qualification in science considered an advantage
- Understanding of workplace health and safety, consulting, and risk management principles
