About Paires and the Role
Paires is a platform dedicated to connecting founders with suitable investors from a large, engaged global network. Our agents manage warm outreach and investor relationships, converting engagements into booked meetings. We are a profitable, self-funded company with a small, experienced, and agile team.
As an Applied AI Engineer, you will be responsible for the conversational layer of our AI-first fundraising platform. This includes managing agents that handle replies, nurture relationships, enable bookings, and provide coaching experiences based on user interactions. Your work directly impacts how Paires communicates with users and investors in real-time.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain agents that process incoming messages and generate appropriate replies rapidly, all with human oversight.
- Manage the messaging infrastructure across multiple channels including warm outreach, investor networks, and investor relations.
- Oversee full conversational agent flows including replies, bookings, nurturing, and support that feel authentically human.
- Design and implement evaluation systems to ensure message quality through golden datasets, judging criteria, and strict quality controls.
- Create and enhance applied AI features such as classification, extraction, routing, and summarization to support broader platform capabilities.
Candidate Profile
- Experience deploying conversational large language model (LLM) systems in production that interact with real external users, including reply handling, support, booking, or nurture agents.
- Proven ability to develop evaluation frameworks such as golden sets and judgment criteria, with practical experience in decision-making based on performance data.
- Skilled in integrating LLMs with email, CRM, or messaging platforms.
- Business-oriented mindset with an operator's approach focused on achieving organizational goals behind messaging.
- Primarily an engineer, with a strong emphasis on engineering rather than research.
- Comfortable working quickly using AI tools and taking full ownership of outcomes.
- Familiarity with technologies including Python, Supabase, Pydantic AI, Claude Agent SDK, and AWS is preferred; direct experience with these is advantageous.
- Additional experience with email or CRM integrations, Revenue Operations, sales, or investor relations is a bonus.
Work Environment and Benefits
- Fully remote and asynchronous work model.
- Your schedule overlaps partially with US Eastern Time zone hours, with meetings concentrated on Mondays and Thursdays, allowing for deep focus work the rest of the time.

Compensation
Salary range: 200000 to 330000 Canadian dollars per year.
