About Paires and Role Overview

Paires is an AI-driven fundraising platform that connects founders with a global investor network. Our platform is live, profitable, self-funded, and operated by a small, senior, and agile team. We are looking for an Applied AI Engineer to lead the development and ownership of our platform's conversation layer. This includes the intelligent agents responsible for engaging in replies, managing conversations through to meeting bookings, and maintaining investor relationships across warm outreach channels.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain agents that interpret inbound messages and generate appropriate replies quickly with human oversight.
• Oversee the messaging infrastructure spanning warm outreach, investor network communications, and investor relations.
• Design and enhance conversational agents that cover all stages including replies, booking meetings, nurturing relationships, and support functions that emulate human interactions.
• Build and manage an evaluation framework with golden datasets, judging criteria, and quality control systems that ensure consistent conversation standards as scale increases.
• Implement broader applied AI capabilities such as message classification, data extraction, routing, and summarization features.

Candidate Qualifications

• Proven experience shipping conversational large language model (LLM) systems in production environments with real users, especially in handling replies, customer support, booking, or nurturing scenarios.
• Hands-on expertise building evaluation processes for AI models, including creation of golden sets and crafting judge criteria used to make deployment decisions.
• Experience integrating LLMs with email, CRM, or other messaging platforms.
• Strong operational mindset with clear understanding of business objectives behind messaging workflows.
• A primary engineering focus prioritizing solution delivery over research; approximately an 80% engineering to 20% research balance.
• Ability to work rapidly and take ownership of AI tooling and its impact.
• Experience with the technology stack including Python, Supabase, Pydantic AI, Claude Agent SDK, and AWS is preferred. Familiarity with email and CRM integrations, Revenue Operations, sales, or investor relations is a plus.

Work Environment and Benefits

• Fully remote and asynchronous work setup.
• Daily work hours overlap with US Eastern time only for several hours, with meetings scheduled in batches on Mondays and Thursdays to maximize deep work time.
• Access to premium AI tools and platforms, such as Claude Code, Cursor, and leading AI models, with paid subscriptions provided.

Compensation Details

The salary range for this position is between CA $200,000 and CA $330,000 annually.
