Job description
Role Overview
This position as an Application Support Engineer focuses on acting as a software detective by analyzing and resolving issues within critical business applications. The role requires actively monitoring system performance, diagnosing faults, and maintaining smooth operation to support business functions reliably. Regular collaboration with various teams is essential to resolving complex issues and ensuring ongoing system stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate independently and evolve into a Subject Matter Expert in assigned domains.
- Engage actively in team discussions to drive problem-solving.
- Deliver practical solutions to technical problems encountered during work.
- Work alongside cross-functional teams for prompt issue resolution and to minimize downtime.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of troubleshooting procedures and resolutions for knowledge sharing.
- Perform continuous monitoring of system alerts and logs to detect potential issues proactively.
- Mentor junior colleagues by imparting best practice knowledge and advice.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong expertise in Splunk Administration including environment management and configuration.
- Proficient in analyzing log data to determine root causes of system malfunctions.
- Experience with the creation and upkeep of dashboards, alerts, and reports within the Splunk platform.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities to address complex infrastructure and application issues.
- Knowledgeable about system monitoring techniques and performance tuning to bolster application reliability.
Additional Requirements
- At least 3 years professional experience in Splunk Administration is mandatory.
- Completion of 15 years of full-time education is required.
- This role is located at the BBDC1A - NON-STPI office in the Eastern Region of Uganda.
