Application Engineer – PLC & Motion Automation

About the Role

We are seeking a Field Application Engineer specializing in PLC programming and motion control automation. This role requires proficiency in Structured Text programming, servo motion control, and machine automation integration. The position is based in Baner, Pune, working on-site five days a week, with approximately 30% travel to customer locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement PLC programs using Structured Text language.
• Engage in motion programming, managing servo/motion control systems and applications involving multiple axes.
• Program, commission, and fine-tune servo drives, motion controllers, and motors.
• Execute machine development tasks and integrate PLC systems with machinery.
• Diagnose and rectify issues in PLC, motion, and automation systems.
• Support installation, commissioning, and implementation of machines at customer sites.
• Interpret electrical schematics and handle automation hardware components.
• Communicate with customers to analyze requirements and deliver tailored automation solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proficient in PLC programming with emphasis on Structured Text (ST).
• Experience in motion programming and servo motion control, including multi-axis system management.
• Skillful in programming and commissioning motion controllers and servo drives.
• Competent in troubleshooting PLC and motion systems and integrating machines.
• Background in working with OEMs or machine builders.
• Knowledge of HMI and machine visualization techniques.
• Familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Track record of commissioning equipment and software at customer premises.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with KEBA PLC platforms.
• Familiarity with Siemens, Beckhoff, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Omron, Schneider automation systems.
• Understanding of servo tuning, electronic gearing and camming techniques.
• Exposure to robotics and special purpose machinery (SPM).
• Experience in injection molding machinery automation.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulic schematics.
• Programming skills in Java and CSS are advantageous.

Additional Information

Candidates must have solid practical experience in Structured Text PLC programming and motion control automation, and be comfortable with travel constituting about 30% of work time. Applicants solely experienced in basic PLC ladder logic without substantial motion programming skills might not align with this role.
