Role Overview
The Android Software Engineer will take full ownership of the Android client, focusing on delivering a smooth, reliable, and high-performance mobile AI experience. This is a core development role involving building production-ready Android applications where AI capabilities are integral. Responsibilities include developing AI-powered features, optimizing performance, and ensuring app robustness.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production Android applications using Kotlin.
- Implement AI functionalities such as chat, vision, voice, and personalized recommendations through backend API integrations.
- Create user experience designs for AI interactions, including handling streaming data responses, retries, and incremental results.
- Enhance application responsiveness, memory efficiency, and performance particularly for AI-intensive processes.
- Set up analytics, logging, and feedback systems to monitor and improve AI performance.
- Work in close collaboration with backend developers and machine learning engineers on API specifications and system design.
- Guarantee app stability, security, and scalability for live production environments.
Desired Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience developing Android applications primarily with Kotlin.
- Proven ability to integrate complex AI features such as large language models, computer vision, and speech recognition APIs.
- Advanced skills in asynchronous programming using Coroutines and Flow.
- Experience working with RESTful or gRPC API services and managing structured data formats.
- Strong capabilities in debugging and performance profiling.
- Comfortable dealing with intermittent latency, partial failures, and unpredictable system behaviors.
- Familiarity with MLKit or lightweight on-device machine learning inference tools.
- Track record of publishing production apps on the Google Play Store.

- Deliver highly stable and fluid Android applications ready for real-world use.
- Optimize performance to ensure the app is responsive, has low latency, and is efficient in memory and resource consumption.
- Detect, monitor, and quickly resolve production issues with thorough root-cause analyses.
