AIDC Energy Storage Project Development Director / Manager

Role Overview

Join Gotion in Wellington, New Zealand as the AIDC Energy Storage Project Development Director / Manager and spearhead the growth of our energy storage business and project pipeline across Australia. This role requires fostering solid relationships with data centre developers, operators, investors, EPC contractors, and engineering consultants to secure and manage vital projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the development of Gotion's energy storage business focusing on AIDC in the Australian market.
• Identify and assess opportunities with key stakeholders including data centre developers, operators, investors, EPCs, and engineering consultants.
• Establish and nurture ongoing relationships with critical customers and industry collaborators.
• Lead projects from initial opportunity recognition through tendering, negotiations, and final contract award phases.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to design solutions encompassing BESS, UPS systems, HVDC technology, backup power, and renewable energy systems.
• Convert client specifications related to capacity, redundancy, availability, and backup duration into functional designs.
• Take charge or assist with proposals, RFQ/RFP processes, pricing strategies, and commercial negotiations.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including sales, engineering, product, project delivery, and after-sales support.
• Stay abreast of market dynamics, competitor moves, and relevant regulatory changes.
• Represent Gotion in meetings with customers and at industry events.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a relevant academic background in Engineering, Energy, Business, or associated fields.
• Demonstrated expertise in business development, project management, or solution sales within data centres, energy storage, critical power, renewable energy, or EPC sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of data centre power systems architecture, including redundancy and high-availability standards.
• Familiarity with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems, microgrids, and both grid-connected and islanded power networks.
• Proven track record of managing complex projects from early evaluation to contract finalization.
• Strong skills in tender management, commercial negotiations, and engaging with multiple stakeholders.
• Preferably, existing connections within Australia’s data centre, energy, or infrastructure industries.
• Experience relating to hyperscale or artificial intelligence data centres is advantageous.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a readiness to travel internationally as required.
