Job description
Role Overview
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for verifying financial figures, postings, and documentation for accuracy, correct coding, and proper mathematical entry. This position involves organizing, protecting, and maintaining financial records, cash, and related assets following internal policies and procedures. The role also requires recording, accessing, and analyzing computerized financial information to maintain accurate records through journals, ledgers, or digital means. It includes participation in period-end closing activities and audits for cashier banks as per SOP requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify accuracy of financial entries and documentation, ensuring proper classifications and coding.
- Maintain and secure all financial files, records, and cash equivalents as per company guidelines.
- Handle recording and analysis of financial data using journal and ledger systems and computerized tools.
- Complete periodic closing reports and procedures as outlined.
- Conduct routine audits of cashiers’ banks consistent with standard operating procedures.
- Administer and document petty cash, cashier banks, and contract-related processes.
- Manage cash variances by documenting, communicating, and acting in line with SOPs.
- Serve as the point of contact between the hotel property and armored car services or banking institutions for cash handling.
- Engage in internal, external, and regulatory audits, ensuring compliance with company SOPs.
Additional Duties and Work Environment
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including uniform standards and confidentiality requirements.
- Maintain professionalism in communication, documentation accuracy, and telephone etiquette.
- Support team dynamics and foster positive interpersonal relationships to achieve collective goals.
- Perform physical tasks such as moving or lifting objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks assigned by supervisory staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- At least one year of relevant experience in a related financial role.
- No supervisory experience is required.
- No specific certification or license is mandatory for this role.
