Position Overview

We are looking for five experienced educators capable of academic and people leadership to join UP International College New Zealand as Academic Leads. Each will oversee one of these specialisations: English, Arts and Communication, Business, Science, or Mathematics. This role combines a passion for teaching with leadership responsibilities, including managing teaching staff and maintaining active involvement in classroom instruction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead academic delivery and ensure assessment quality in your subject area.
• Manage, support, and develop teaching staff, including onboarding and professional development activities.
• Guarantee compliance with programme and regulatory standards for assessments, moderation, and results processing.
• Collaborate with the Quality team on curriculum and course review processes.
• Maintain a reduced but active teaching workload, exemplifying high teaching standards and academic professionalism.
• Assist with student-related matters and nurture a positive, collaborative culture among staff and students.
• Partner with senior academic leadership for departmental planning, resourcing, reporting, and sustaining academic operations.

Candidate Profile

• Possess at least a Bachelor’s degree relevant to your teaching subject.
• Demonstrate solid teaching experience within an educational setting.
• Bring experience in leadership roles such as mentoring, coordinating, or supporting educators.
• Have a working knowledge of academic quality assurance, assessment, and moderation protocols.
• Be familiar with New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and Ministry of Education frameworks and requirements.
• Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Show commitment to academic excellence, ongoing improvement, and professional development.
• Possess a collaborative mindset with an ability to build strong relationships across teams.

Additional desirable qualifications include postgraduate degrees and prior experience in curriculum or assessment oversight. Depending on program delivery requirements, Teaching Council registration may be necessary.
