Software Engineering Manager - Content Safety and Productionization

This leadership position at Google in Singapore focuses on managing software engineering teams dedicated to developing content safety solutions that protect users from harmful, offensive, or sensitive content. Key Responsibilities

• Define and communicate team priorities aligning with organizational goals, ensuring strategic cohesion across teams.
• Establish clear expectations per role and performance level, conducting regular meetings to provide feedback, coaching, and support development.
• Lead the setting and evolution of technical objectives and roadmaps to accommodate future infrastructure and requirement changes.
• Architect, develop, maintain, and scale content safety systems safeguarding critical Google products.
• Mitigate user exposure to harmful content while enabling new business opportunities.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 8 years of software development experience.
• Minimum 5 years specializing in machine learning infrastructure or related areas.
• 5 years leading design and optimization of ML systems including deployment, evaluation, data processing, debugging, and fine-tuning.
• 3 years in a technical leadership capacity and 2 years of people management or team leadership experience.

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge or direct experience in content safety within software products.
• Expertise in Responsible AI, safety-related fields like factuality, or product policy.
• Hands-on experience scaling pipelines, deploying robust systems, and designing architectures to meet Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
• Understanding of machine learning models, especially large language models and transformers, including their training and deployment.
